How to Reset a Honda Motorcycle ECU or ECM

The first step that must be done is to find the position of the DLC short connector, each Honda motorcycle has a different DLC position.

Then remove the DLC short connector cover by pushing the lid locking up and pulling it out.

After that you will see 4 DLC pins, insert the cable on both the top and bottom sides of the DLC pin, to determine the position of the upper DLC we can see it from the protrusion

If the cable is inserted into the DLC pin, then turn the ignition on and the MIL lamp on the speedometer will light up. Then unplug the cable attached to the DLC, within 5 seconds plug the cable back into the DLC.

Then the MIL lamp will blink regularly, meaning the manual reset of the ECU has been successful.

How to Check for Damage Codes Stored in the ECU

Connect the two upper pin down with the DLC protrusion as a benchmark for the top.

Turn the ignition on and pay attention to the MIL lamp, if the MIL lamp is lit continuously then it can be concluded there is no fault code stored in the ECU.

But if the MIL lamp lights up and blinks, it means that there is a fault code stored in the ECU.
